HOW TO APPLY MAKEUP -FOR BEGINNERS
Makeup not only enhances our features but also boosts our confidence to kick-start the day.
One of our biggest beauty blunders is simply applying products out of order. Learning the right order for applying makeup will minimize the mistakes. and maximize results.
Here are the basic steps to apply makeup.,
1. APPLY MOISTURISER
A moisturizer is a vital part of your skincare regimen. Whatever be your skin type, one of the basic makeup tips is keeping it hydrated which is essential to keep your skin healthy and supple. It also helps in getting a smooth finish of makeup. Choosing the right type of moisturizer for your skin type is equally important. For example, go for creamy and gentle moisturizer for sensitive skin. If your skin is dry, go with moisturizers offering long-lasting hydrating benefits.
This step is as important as applying foundation because your face needs to be prepared for the products that you are going to apply later as a part of your makeup routine. Just dot your face with moisturizer/sunscreen (If you are going out under the sun) and apply it in circular motions through your fingertip.
2. MAKEUP PRIMER
A primer is an important part of makeup and it helps in keeping the makeup intact for the whole day. It not only keeps your makeup in place but also helps you look fresh. However, before buying a primer, ensure that you choose a quality brand.
Most people skip this step but if you are going for a heavy duty makeup look, you might as well use this. Once you are done with your premake-up routine, start with applying a primer. It sets the base for your makeup by making your skin smoother and it makes sure that your makeup lasts longer. It’s a life saver for a bright sunny day Primers are available in power, gel and cream-based formulas for you to choose the most suitable for your skin type.
Face makeup primer sets the base to apply foundation/BB Cream/CC Cream. It covers the pores, fine lines or wrinkles of your skin which in turn allows the makeup to glide on smoothly and last longer.
3. APPLY FOUNDATION
If you want really good coverage, you should go with a foundation. If you want a very light and everyday look, a BB Cream or a CC Cream will also suffice. Remember to apply the foundation all over your face including the jawline and the neck. Also, it is extremely important for the foundation as per your skin tone.
TIPS
- The first and foremost makeup tip for the beginners is to understand that what your complexion is, so that, you can buy your makeup products as per your complexion. You must exactly know which is the perfect color which can complement your skin.
- Always buy a foundation by testing it near your ear or the jawline. This will ensure that you buy the most suitable shade for yourself.
4. COMPACT POWDER
The next step is to set your base so that your face doesn’t end up looking cakey. Use a powder compact/cream finished compact (depending on your skin type) and apply it all over your face using a soft fluffy brush.
5. EYESHADOW
Since you are a beginner, it is always better to play safe and not mix too many colors when it comes to eyeshadow.
6.EYEBROWS
This is a rather ignored step but in reality, this is a very important step. Select a deep brownish eye pencil and just brush your brows with it.
7. EYE KAJAL
This is by far the most important product for every girl. Apply the kajal on the upper as well as the lower water line. If you want to add a bit of depth, just apply some kajal on the lower lid and a tad bit on the outer upper lid and smudge it with the help of a fine brush.
8. CONCEALER
A concealer is used to make color corrections and mask any spots, dark circles, blemishes and large pores. Put on an under-eye concealer to hide the dark circles. Always ensure to go with the concealer shade that is slightly lighter than your skin tone to get the perfect look. Apply concealer in upside down triangular way under your eyes, blending it well Dab some concealer on spots or large pores and blend it well you cover up the blemishes. Use a concealer brush to reach out to all the areas.
9.CONTOUR
You may skip this step if you have a slim face and nice jaw bones. But those with round face, this step is very important as it helps you to sculpt your face. Take a soft fluffy brush, apply the product with a very light hand. Make sure you do not have too much of the product on the brush as some contour kits are highly pigmented. Apply the product just below the jaw bone till the outer corner of your lips. Make sure that you blend it really well with the base makeup so that it doesn’t look out of place.
10. BLUSH
Everyone wants that nice rosy glow on their faces. Blushes help you achieve that. Take the same brush that you used to contour your face. Take some product on the brush. Tap to remove any excess. Apply the product to the cheekbone. Do not apply it all over the cheek as it will not give any definition to your face.
11.HIGHLIGHTER
Highlighter makes your face look luminous and brightens up your features. It adds that extra drama to your regular makeup routine. Apply the highlighter on your cheekbones, bridge of your nose and inner corner of your eyes. If you are using a liquid highlighter, ensure that you blend it with a blending sponge. If you are using a powder highlighter, you can apply it using an angled powder brush.
12.LIPSTICK
A lipstick can make or break your makeup as it is the single most prominent feature on your face. Start with priming your face with a lip primer/lip balm if you plan to apply a matte lipstick. Make sure you use a lip liner as it defines the shape of your lips.
